Compliance Settings

Email compliance is critical. Different regions have different requirements for commercial email. Minoo helps you stay compliant.

Why Compliance Matters

Non-compliant emails can result in:

  • Spam filters blocking your messages
  • Legal penalties (fines vary by region)
  • Damage to your sender reputation
  • Unsubscribes and complaints

Unsubscribe Handling

Automatic Processing

When someone clicks unsubscribe:

  1. They're immediately marked as unsubscribed
  2. Minoo stops all future emails to them
  3. You're notified of the unsubscribe

Manual Unsubscribes

If someone asks to be removed via reply or other channel:

  1. Find them in Contacts
  2. Change status to Unsubscribed
  3. Or delete the contact entirely
info

Minoo never sends to unsubscribed contacts, even if you accidentally include them in a campaign.

Best Practices

Keep Your Address Current

If your business moves, update your compliance settings immediately. Old addresses in emails raise red flags.

Don't Buy Email Lists

Purchased lists violate most email regulations. Only email people who have a legitimate connection to your business.

Honor Unsubscribes Immediately

The law requires processing unsubscribes within 10 days. Minoo does it instantly, but if someone reaches out directly, act fast.

Use Honest Subject Lines

CAN-SPAM specifically prohibits deceptive subject lines. Minoo drafts honest subjects, but review them in approval.

Document Consent

For GDPR/LGPD contacts, keep records of how and when they consented to receive emails. Discovery prospects don't have consent — reach out to establish a relationship first.

Regional Considerations

United States (CAN-SPAM)

  • Physical address required in every email
  • Clear unsubscribe mechanism
  • No deceptive headers or subject lines
  • 10-day deadline to process unsubscribes

European Union (GDPR)

  • Requires prior consent for marketing emails
  • Right to erasure (deletion on request)
  • Must explain why you're contacting them
  • Data processing disclosure required

Brazil (LGPD)

  • Similar to GDPR
  • Consent required for data processing
  • Clear purpose for communication
  • Right to data deletion

Canada (CASL)

  • Express consent required (strictest of all)
  • Implied consent only in limited circumstances
  • Must identify yourself clearly
  • Unsubscribe must be processed in 10 days

Compliance Checklist

Before launching a campaign, verify:

  • Business address is current and complete
  • Contact email is monitored
  • Footer template includes required elements
  • Subject lines are honest and accurate
  • Recipients have a legitimate business relationship or consent
  • Unsubscribe link works correctly
